SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--The Adrian College men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season on Wednesday with a 7-2 loss at non-conference opponent Lawrence Tech at the LTU Southfield Courts.
The Blue Devils, who are affiliated with the NAIA Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, improve to 4-0 at home as part of a 5-1 record overall. The visiting Bulldogs, meanwhile, dropped to 2-2.
Juniors Brandon Brom and Jeff Sophiea earned Adrian's two points during singles play. At No. 2, Brom came from behind to beat Javier Alvarez 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-0, finishing his match strong. At No. 4, Sophiea easily handled Jan Horstkoetter, 8-1, in a match played to eight-game pro-sets due to darkness.
Adrian freshman Tanner Wilcox lost a hard-fought battle to Robert Saitov at No. 3 singles. Wilcox took the first set 6-4 before losing the next two, 6-3, 10-8.
The Nos. 5 and 6 singles positions also played the fast-track pro-sets to get the matches finished.
