ADRIAN, Mich.--Visiting Baldwin-Wallace University spoiled the start of the Bill Schindel coaching era at Adrian College on Thursday evening as the Yellow Jackets shut out the Bulldogs, 56-0, at the Merillat Sport & Fitness Center. It was the season opener for both sides.
B-W, which ended last season ranking 18th in NCAA Division III and is the defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion, used their experience to register pins in six of eight matches contested. The Yellow Jackets also benefited from two wins via forfeit.
Sophomore Dominic Paterra took an early lead over Charlie Nash at 133 pounds before falling 14-5. Classmate Ty Jasman picked up points in his 149-lb. bout against Zack Taylor.
Schindel is very familiar with B-W as he coached against the Yellow Jackets the previous four seasons when he led Mount Union to a pair of OAC championships and a 46-20 (.697) dual-match record.
Adrian returns to the mat on Sunday when it travels to University Heights, Ohio, for the John Carroll University Duals.
