Furious Rally for @AC_Bulldogs Comes Up Just Short at NAIA-Scholarship Lourdes University

SYLVANIA, Ohio—Adrian College captured five of eight contested matches but host Lourdes University benefited from two forfeits, as the Gray Wolves escaped with a 27-19 non-conference win on Thursday at the Franciscan Center Gymnasium.

Lourdes sprinted to a 21-0 lead on the strength of a forfeit, a major decision, pinfall and decision.

The Bulldogs, however, wouldn't back down and reeled off four consecutive wins to get back into the match at 21-15.

James Renaud started the Adrian rally with a 4-1 decision over Mike Andrzejewski at 165 pounds. Dylan Steward dominated his 165 bout against Danny Kruzel with a convincing 23-5 technical fall win in 5 minutes and 45 seconds. Then at 174, James Pace doubled up Josh Brown, 13-6. John Cooper, Jr. capped the winning streak with an 18-8 major decision against Noah Nuno.

The Gray Wolves sealed the team win with a forfeit win at 197 for Ernesto Quintanilla.

Zach Rieger scored the last points of the match with another dominating triumph for the Bulldogs, earning an 18-4 major decision over Colin McFarland.

For Lourdes, Lane Trapp also won unopposed at 125 to begin the match. Jacob Supina recorded a 3:59 pin at 141.

Adrian returns to action on Saturday (9 a.m.) at the Ohio Northern Invitational in Ada.
