Men's Wrestling Closed the Fall Semester at the Luther College Gator 'Boots' Duals in Nashville, Tenn.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Adrian College men's wrestling team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule on Saturday at the Luther College Gator "Boots" Duals held at McGavock High School.

Five different Bulldogs picked up victories today, including freshman Dylan Steward at 165 pounds, an 8-5 decision over Jake Tisza from Millikin University; junior Zach Rieger in a heavyweight match against the Big Blue's Frank Tomaskovic, 8-3; sophomore Dominic Paterra at 133, pinning Cody Hanson from Luther College in 3 minutes and 55 seconds; classmate Ty Jasman (149) edging Andrew Schmidt of the host Norse, 8-5; and 141-lb. freshman Drew Mandell earning a 4:53 pinfall over Joseph Riordan out of Loras College.

Adrian batted Luther in the early going, trailing only 6-5 after two bouts and winning 9-8 after four. Steward lost a hard-fought 157 battle in sudden victory, 6-4, at the hands of Michael Suarez, and the Bulldogs had to forfeit at 174.

Then against Loras, sophomore John Cooper, Jr. (184) and Rieger (285) lost narrow decisions and the Bulldogs had to give away points at 157 due to forfeit.

Adrian begins the New Year on Thursday, Jan. 5, at the two-day National Wrestling Coaches Association Duals in Fort Wayne Ind.
