Visiting Belles Double Up Women's Tennis, but Amber Laginess Wins 14th Singles Match in a Row

ADRIAN, Mich.--St. Mary's (Ind.) used a sweep of three doubles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over host Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's tennis action on Wednesday at the Craft Tennis Complex.

The visiting Belles improve to 12-5 overall and 3-2 in the MIAA, while Adrian falls to 9-9 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.

St. Mary's raced to a 6-0 lead before senior Arielle Williams put the Bulldogs on the board with a strong win at No. 1 singles over Andrea Fetters, 7-5, 6-2.

Sophomore Amber Laginess registered Adrian's next point with a 6-0, 6-4 No. 3 singles win over Sam Setterblad, extending her winning streak to 14 matches. Laginess improves to 16-1 on the season, including 3-0 at No. 3 singles.

Junior Victoria Watson also was victorious in singles at No. 6, defeating Kaity Venters 6-3, 6-4.

Monica Davy, Margaret Faller and Maddie Minaudo were double winners for the Belles.

Adrian will host MIAA opponent Calvin College in its final home match of the season on Friday, scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
