HOLLAND, Mich.--Senior Michael Mertz and junior Joey Loselle each picked up two wins for Adrian College, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs lost a hard-fought men's tennis match at Hope College, 5-4, on Saturday at the VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium Courts.
Adrian (15-7 overall) lost for the first time in six Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association matches this season, while the Flying Dutchmen improve to 6-11 on the season and 5-1 in the MIAA.
Mertz and Loselle teamed up at No. 1 doubles to take an 8-4 win versus Andrew Klein/Michael Kiley and cut Hope's lead to 2-1 going into singles.
In singles, Loselle beat Kiley 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 while Mertz downed Mark VanderStoep 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 2.
