ADRIAN, Mich.--Lourdes University, a national qualifier to the 2017 NAIA Men's Wrestling Championships, won the final two contested bouts to edge host Adrian College, 24-18, in non-conference action on Thursday. 

THE BASICS

TOP 'DAWGS
= Freshmen Michael Jacobs (174 pounds), Bryant Moore (165), Zachary Reynolds (184), junior Clarence Kennedy (197) and senior co-captain Zach Rieger (285) all picked up wins.

= Jacobs, Kennedy and Villalobos won convincingly with major decisions.

THE OPPOSITION
= Troy and Tyler Wilson each won their matches with a pinfall at 149 and 157, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Trailing 18-12 going into the last three matches of the evening, Lourdes won by forfeit at 125 to knot things up, Tyler Roberts nipped junior co-captain Dominic Paterra with a 4-3 sudden-victory at 133 to put the Gray Wolves ahead to stay and Reilly Heater squeaked by junior James Renaud, 141, at 141 to clinch the win for the visitors.

= Kennedy had given Adrian its first lead with an electric performance. He was trailing in his 197-pound match to Hunter Jacks, 6-1, before reeling off 15 unanswered points to claim a 16-6 major decision. The Bulldogs took a 14-12 advantage at that point.

= The Wilson pair gave LU a quick 12-0 cushion after their pins.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Three of Adrian's four losses in dual matches have come by 11 points combined.

= The Gray Wolves are in just their second year of existence in the sport of men's wrestling. Adrian is in Year 3 of its modern era after sponsoring the program from 1969 to 1984, and then bringing it back in 2015.

= Roberts improved to a team-best 8-4 record for Lourdes.

UP NEXT
= Adrian will travel to Ada, Ohio, on Saturday for the Ohio Northern University Open, beginning at 9 a.m.
