Host Men's Tennis Sweeps Doubles En Route to 8-1 Victory Over MIAA Foe Trine

ADRIAN, Mich.--Five Bulldogs notched a pair of wins to help the Adrian College men's tennis team cruise past Trine University, 8-1, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action at the Craft Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

Adrian got off to a fast start by sweeping the doubles portion, as No. 1 Joey Loselle and Brandon Brom edged Victor Flynn / Judson Quinn in a 9-7 thriller.

Both Loselle and Brom also won their respective Nos. 1 and 2 singles matches.

Junior Jeff Sophiea and freshmen Nathan Waterbury and Kyle Haines joined Brom and Loselle as double winners on the day. Sophiea teamed up with Waterbury at No. 2 doubles (8-3) and then won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 4 singles. Waterbury was victorious in singles by an identical score at No. 5. Haines and classmate Tanner Wilcox won their No. 2 doubles bout, 8-3, and the former won a three-set thriller at No. 6 singles over Colin Couch, 7-5, 4-6, 10-6.

Flynn picked up the Thunder's lone point with a 6-3, 6-4 No. 3 singles triumph.

Adrian completes a three-match homestand versus MIAA competition at 4 p.m. Thursday with Olivet College at the Craft Tennis Complex.
