@Dawgs_Tennis Clinches MIAA Tournament Berth with 9-0 Thrashing of Visiting Olivet

ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian College on Thursday clinched a berth in next month's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Tennis Championship Tournament with a convincing 9-0 win over visiting Olivet College at the Craft Tennis Complex.

Adrian, which went 2-1 on this homestand, improved to 12-6 overall and 4-1 for second place in the MIAA standings. The Comets drop to 0-14 on the season and 0-5 in the conference.

Junior Kevin Hernandez made his season debut with a career-high two points to lead the Bulldogs' charge. He won at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and No. 3 doubles with freshman Kyle Haines, 8-0.

In all, Adrian lost only seven games between singles and doubles.

Besides Hernandez, senior Joey Loselle and freshman Tanner Wilcox also were double winners.

Freshman Nolan Duda chipped in his third doubles win against no losses this season. He was promoted to the No. 2 slot and won 8-0 with Wilcox.

Through today, the Bulldogs lead the MIAA with 39 points-for in conference matches only, as well as 120 points-for overall and 79 point-scoring margin.

The 2017 MIAA Tournament will be hosted on the campus site of the No. 1 seed on May 4-5.

Next up, the Bulldogs travel to first-place Kalamazoo College next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
