ADRIAN, Mich.--Kalamazoo College defeated host Adrian College, 9-0, on Saturday in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's tennis action at the Craft Tennis Complex.
The visiting Hornets improve to 7-8 overall and 3-1 in the MIAA, while the Bulldogs slip to 7-10 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.
Despite the loss, one highlight for Adrian was senior co-captain Victoria Watson was battling Siani Johnson at No. 4 singles. Watson took the opening set 6-1, before Johnson leveled the match with an identical result in the second. Johnson prevailed in a tough super-set tiebreaker, 10-8.
In addition, Adrian freshman Samantha Cyrus was part of winning eight games combined in No. 3 singles (2-6, 2-6) and No. 2 doubles with junior Renae Adams Almasy (4-8).
Next up, Adrian travels to Grand Rapids to compete at MIAA opponent Calvin College on Tuesday, beginning at 4 p.m.
