TOP 'DAWGS
= Mikowski finished the afternoon by going 6-for-8 at the plate, including a triple, with five runs scored, three stolen bases and two runs batted in.

Senior Brian Killinger went 5-for-8 on the day, including a double, with five RBI and two runs.

= Junior Hunter Hayes had two hits in both contests and two RBI total.

= Freshman Tristin Richardson stroked two hits in both games while scoring five times and walking twice on the afternoon.

= Senior Miccoy Drzewiecki drove in five runs on double, single and home run during the twinbill.

= Sophomore Jason Schroeder (6-0) was the Game 1 winner after allowing two runs and three hits with three strikeouts in five innings of work.

= Right-handed senior pitcher Kyle Shepherd (2-1) started his first game and struck out seven Thunder batters in six innings. He allowed just a run, two walks and four hits.

THE OPPOSITION
Colton Conn went 4-for-9 with two runs scored in the two games.

Drew Palmer and Jacob Heller chipped in three hits apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED, Game 1
= Adrian jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead after three innings. In the decisive five-run second inning, Killinger had a two-run single to left field, Hayes hit a RBI-single deep to the hole at shortstop and a throwing error led to two unearned runs.

= The Bulldogs outhit the Thunder 14 to 6.

HOW IT HAPPENED, Game 2
= Like the opener, Adrian jumped out to a quick lead in the nightcap with five runs over the first four frames. The Bulldogs showed their depth with RBIs by five different student-athletes: senior Ryan Dorow (sacrifice fly), Richardson (single), Drzewiecki (single), junior Frank Resto (single) and Mikowski (single).

= The Bulldogs scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to blow the game open, 10-1. Drzewiecki ignited it with a towering three-run blast over the left field fence.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Mikowski has 28 steals on the season to break his own AC benchmark of 26, set a year ago. He also has 58 for his career to surpass Alex Cowart (57, 2007-10) on the school's all-time chart.

= Alma College won eight consecutive MIAA titles from 1951 to 1958.

= Drzewiecki leads the MIAA with nine home runs, which is six more than his previous season high and just two shy of tying a school record for a single-year.

= Adrian can claim the MIAA outright title with a win over Hope or a Kalamazoo loss next week, but will serve as the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament (May 10-12) because it holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Kzoo.

= The Bulldogs have won eight games in a row, outscoring opponents 84-17 during that span.

= Adrian leads Trine in the all-time series, 54-14, including wins in the last 10 meetings.

UP NEXT
= Adrian wraps up the regular season with a four-game MIAA series versus Hope College, first in Holland on Friday (2/4:30 p.m.) and then back here in Adrian on Saturday (1/3:30 p.m.). On Saturday, Adrian will be honoring its senior class.
