Men's Wrestling Places Pair at Elmhurst University Al Hanke Invitational

ELMHURST, Ill.--The Adrian College men's wrestling squad scored 31.5 points to place 11th out of 12 teams competing at the Al Hanke Invitational hosted by Elmhurst University on Saturday.

Senior co-captain Zach Rieger and freshman Noah Nieman paced the Bulldogs' cause. Rieger was the 285-pound champion while Nieman claimed fourth place at 149.

Rieger defeated Emonte Logan of North Central College in the title bout, 4-2, to cap a 4-0 afternoon. Rieger blanked Karim Fuentes of host Elmhurst in the opening round, 7-0, before getting a pair of pins over Chicago's Adam Rizk in 2 minutes and 46 seconds and Millikin's Diata Drayton in 42 seconds. Rieger improves to 22-1 on the season while extending his winning streak to 16, and today marks his third invitational tournament win in 2017-18.

Nieman lost his opening match but bounced back to win four straight matches.

Host Elmhurst edged fellow NCAA Division III nationally-ranked opponent North Central-Illinois for the team title, 117.5 to 105.5 points.

Adrian will be at Case Western on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
