HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One: Wis.-Platteville def. Adrian, 9-7

The Pioneers built a 7-0 lead through the top half of the sixth inning before Adrian rallied back in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game.

Paige VanAtta (East Lansing, Mich.) doubled to left field to get into scoring position for the Bulldogs. Madison Budde (Novi, Mich.) then singled to left and advanced VanAtta to third. Infinity Rogers (Sand Creek, Mich.) scored VanAtta and reached base on a fielder's choice.

Rogers was moved to third when Hope Kapelanski (Novi, Mich.) singled to center field and advanced to second on a bad throw. Ashley Lenington (Southfield, Mich.) then singled to score Rogers and cut the Pioneer lead to five, 7-2. Destiny Rogers (Sand Creek, Mich.) walked to load the bases for Jamie Bell (Lake Orion, Mich.).

Bell was walked--scoring Kapelanski--to keep the bases loaded and put the score at 7-3, Wis.-Platteville. Jaime Lightner (Eaton Rapids, Mich.) then singled to right field to score both D. Rogers and Lenington to put Adrian within two runs of tying the game, 7-5.

Paige Cubberly (Toledo, Ohio) tied the game on a triple to left field that scored Lightner and Bell before the Pioneers struck out the next two batters to alleviate any further damage.

Game Two: Defiance def. Adrian, 3-2

Defiance took an early 1-0 lead at the conclusion of the 1st-inning. Adrian tied the game in the 2nd-inning off Taylor Van't Land (Clarksville, Mich.) double that scored Natalia Younan (Windsor, Ontario).

The Yellow Jackets would retake the lead in the 3rd-inning after a two-RBI single to right center put the score at 3-1 in favor of Defiance.

Neither team would score again until Adrian tallied a run in the 6th-inning when D. Rogers scored Younan to cut the deficit to just one run, 3-2.

Defiance preserved the lead when Rachel Wehrman struck out the first two Bulldog batters before a groundout to second ended the contest.
