KALAMAZOO, Mich.--The Adrian College women's tennis team on Saturday lost to host Kalamazoo College, 8-1, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The day before, the Bulldogs also suffered an 8-1 setback, this time to host NAIA-scholarship Spring Arbor University.
The Bulldogs now stand 3-12 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while the Hornets are 7-8 (3-1 in MIAA) and Cougars, 9-13.
Against the Hornets, sophomore Samantha Cyrus picked up Adrian's lone point with a No. 3 singles win over Helen Pelak, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. Versus the Cougars, classmate Makayla Jorgensen downed Victoria Buchholz at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-4. In addition, Adrian sophomore Sara Anthony won 8-1 in an exhibition during the SAU match.
Adrian returns home to the Craft Tennis Complex on Tuesday against MIAA foe Calvin College, starting at 4 p.m.
