ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College women's tennis team concluded the 2017-18 season on Saturday with a 9-0 loss at the hands of conference leader Hope College on Senior Day at the AC Craft Tennis Complex.
The Flying Dutch remain undefeated (8-0) in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association competition as part of an 11-8 overall record on the season, while the host Bulldogs end the 2017-18 campaign at 4-14 and 3-5 in the MIAA. Hope will be the top seed in the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship Tournament next week.
Sophomore Makayla Jorgensen paced Adrian by taking seven games, including a tough No. 3 doubles loss with classmate Julia Maltbie, 8-5, and playing at No. 6 singles.
Amanda Bandrowski and Claire Hallock paced Hope's efforts with two wins apiece. The former won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles while the latter triumphed at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. The Flying Dutch did not lose a set.
Prior to this afternoon's contest, Adrian's 2018 senior class of Renae Almasy (Grand Ledge High School), Kimberly Hardy (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lake Shore HS), Amber Laginess (Carleton, Mich. / Monroe St. Mary's Catholic Central HS) and Olivia Neumann (Highland, Mich. / Lakeland HS) were honored for their contributions on and off the court.
