ALMA, Mich.--Host Alma College won four of the first five bouts to take a 29-12 victory Thursday over Adrian College in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's wrestling match in 35 years. 

Freshman Zach Altman, a spring semester addition, won his collegiate debut at 165 pounds by defeating Erik Arnegard in a 6-1 decision. Altman darted to a six-point lead before Arnegard spoiled the shutout in the third period.

Sophomore Devon Pingel and junior Zach Reynolds gave the Bulldogs back-to-back wins at 184 and 197, respectively. Pingel breezed by Dylan Seaton in a 9-2 decision and Reynolds broke a 2-2 tie late in the third period with an escape to edge Austin Popp by a point.
