ALMA, Mich.--The Adrian College men's wrestling team registered 85 points to earn fourth out of 12 teams at the 2019 Mid-States Invitational held on the campus of Alma College on Saturday.
The Bulldogs had nine individuals who placed, led by a pair of runner-up showings from 133-pounder sophomore Malachi Greene and 165-freshman Derick Duvall. The latter led Adrian with 18 team points as Duvall went 3-1 and got into the finals after defeating Dylan Briggs from nationally-ranked Olivet by 6-5 decision in the semifinals. Greene split with opponents from Top-5 ranked Wabash in the quarterfinals and championship and defeated teammate Elijah Sanchez by 6-4 decision.
Wabash won the team standings 210 points over host Scots (129-1/2) and Olivet (120).
Adrian will be idle until the NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships at Wabash College, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 22-23.
