Women's Tennis Tripped Up at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College women's team fell to 1-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play this year with a 7-2 loss to Trine University on Tuesday, April 2. The Bulldogs got their two points by winning one match in each of the doubles and singles portions of the dual.

Freshman Mackenna Crowley and junior Julia Maltbie picked up Adrian's first point of the day with their 8-6 win at two doubles. The third flight of juniors Makayla Jorgensen and Elena Bishop lost a tough one, 8-7(1) to give the Thunder the lead heading into singles play.

Jorgensen wouldn't be denied a win in singles action, picking up AC's only other point of the night with her win at the five spot, 6-3, 6-2. Bishop was in a battle in the first set at the four spot, as was fellow junior Sara Anthony. Bishop went down 7-5, 6-3 while Anthony struggled in the second set at two singles, 7-5, 6-1.

The Bulldogs return home on Wednesday, April 3 when they welcome St. Francis (Ind.) to town. The match will be a combined match with the men's team, with both teams starting at 4 p.m.
