Box Score 1

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College softball team finished its season with a 19-19 record after splitting the final doubleheader of the year with Saint Mary's College on Saturday, April 27. The Belles took game one 3-1 before AC battled back to win the second game, 5-2. Following the game Adrian's three seniors – Paige Cubberly, Krista Lynch, and Natalia Younan were honored for their time spent in the Black and Gold.

THE BASICS

Game One Scoreline: Saint Mary's 3-7-1 | Adrian 1-3-0

Game Two Scoreline: Adrian 5-6-1 | 2-7-0

Location: Adrian, Mich. (Adrian College Softball Field)

Records: AC 19-19 (7-9 MIAA), SMC 13-22 (9-7 MIAA)

GAME ONE

Saint Mary's scored in the top of the first to open the game with a one-out sac fly. Both teams would get runners to third in the innings after the first, but neither could bring one home until the sixth inning. The Belle's had runners on second and third when a single was put down the left field line to score the runner from third and advance the runner on second to third. That runner came home on the next at bat, courtesy of a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher.

Adrian scored its only run of the game in the bottom half of the inning when junior Madison Budde singled up the middle to score sophomore pinch runner Jalyn DeForest from second. Budde took second on the throw and tried to take third but was thrown out at third from the catcher to end the inning. The Bulldogs couldn't get anything going in the seventh, dropping the first game 3-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, Lynch was hit by a pitch, giving her the record for most times hit by a pitch in a season. That was her 11th time getting hit, surpassing the old record of 10 from the 1991 season. Lynch ended her career with a total of 13 times being hit by a pitch, the second most in program history, two behind the record of 15.

GAME TWO

Neither team got anything going early in the second game, with a total of two hits between the teams through the first two innings. That changed in the third when AC got its first two runners on base – junior twins Infinity Rogers and Destiny Rogers, after they were both hit by a pitch. Sophomore Jamie Bell bunted them over to second and third, and the twins came home when Younan singled through the right side of the infield, giving Adrian the 2-0 lead.

The Black and Gold extended their lead in the fifth when Younan picked up her third RBI of the game. I. Rogers started the inning off with a double to left center and took third when her sister flied out to right. After an infield ground out Younan singled back up the middle to bring Rogers home.

Saint Mary's answered in the bottom half of the inning, getting two back with a homer to left field. It remained a one-run game until the seventh when Younan did more damage to the Belles, hitting a two-out double to the gap in left to score Rogers and Bell. Lynch and Cubberly walked in the next two at bats, putting all three seniors on the base paths. All three were able to leave to a standing ovation as all three were pinch ran for to finish out the half inning. The seniors came back in for the bottom of the seventh and a popout to Cubberly at first ended their careers with a win.
