NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Adrian College women's tennis team fell to 1-2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 9-0 loss to St. Mary's on Saturday, April 6.
St. Mary's had no trouble with two of the three doubles matches, winning 8-0 at the two and three spots. Adrian's top duo of juniors Samantha Cyrus and Sara Anthony gave the Belles some trouble but ultimately fell, 8-5.
Anthony had the closest singles match of the day, pushing her opponent to a third-set tiebreaker at the two spot. She couldn't complete the win though, falling 6-0, 4-6, 5-10. Only junior Elena Bishop won more than two games in a set as she lost 6-4, 6-2 at four singles.
Adrian returns home next week for a pair of MIAA matches. The Bulldogs host Alma on Wednesday, April 10 at 4 p.m. before welcoming Olivet on Sunday, April 14 at 12 p.m.
