WHEATON, Ill.--Junior Noah Nieman and sophomore Derick Duvall both placed sixth in their respective weight classes at the Wheaton College/Pete Willson Invitational, where the Adrian College men's wrestling team finished 20th of 34 schools with 37.0 points on Saturday.
Nieman reached the 149-pound semifinals before settling for sixth place after a hardfought loss to Jake Drexler of Wisconsin-Eau Claire by an 11-9 decision.
Like Nieman, Duvall advanced to the semifinals at 165 and also placed sixth.
Junior Devon Pingel went to the 197-quarterfinals to finish the tournament at 2-2 after exiting via a medical forfeit.
Sophomore Zach Altman led the Bulldogs with a 3-2 record at 157, where he was eliminated in the consolation fourth round.
Adrian returns home to the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center on Thursday for Senior Night against non-conference opponent Defiance, starting at 7 p.m. At 11-5 in dual matches in 2019-20, according to available school records the team will be aiming to clinch its first-ever 12-win season.
