ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian men's tennis team will make its 2021 debut on Thursday afternoon, joining the Bulldog women to host Bethel (Ind.) at the Craft Tennis Complex.
The men were initially scheduled to host Manchester back on September 5, but the Spartan men were unable to make the trip up to Adrian, effectively canceling their meeting.
The Adrian women, however, have three matches under their belts entering Thursday, including back-to-back wins over the Manchester women and at Baldwin Wallace.
Senior,
Jules Johnson is spotless through her first three bouts in the number one singles slot.
Bethany Posey (2-1) and
Liv Depies (2-1) have both won consecutive matches after dropping their respective season openers.
In doubles competition,
Vasiliki Gargasoulas and Posey have compiled a 2-1 record over the first three duals, while Depies and
Regan Snyder are 2-0.
The Bulldog men return three Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes in
Gabriel Hankey,
Zachary Perry and
Darren Walter.
The Bethel women (1-7, 1-6 Crossroads League) are coming off a narrow 4-3 victory over Goshen College on Tuesday, which snaped a two-match losing streak in which their opponents outscored the Pilots 13-1.
Kyla Heckaman (2-4) and Saige Rinkenberger (2-4) pace Bethel in singles competition in the first and fourth slots, respectively.
As for the men, the Pilots (1-6, 1-6 Crossroads) have yet to win a point since their season-opening, 4-3 win at Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Lucca Almeida, Jerad Bos and Jayson LaGrou have each recorded one win in singles action for Bethel.
Thursday action begins at 3 p.m.!
