CLEVELAND, Ohio - On Wednesday evening, the Adrian women's soccer wrapped up their season-opening road trip against (RV) Case Western Reserve. A two-goal first half proved to be too much to overcome for the shorthand Bulldogs as the Spartans silenced Adrian 3-0.
"This was definitely a match that we knew would be a big test and we were excited for it," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "Unfortunately, we had to deal with the loss of a few key players after the Rowan match, so it made it difficult to find a rhythm."
Helina VanBibber and Sydney Schenk scored for the home team in the first half before Christina Hickson tallied a third goal in the second frame.
The Spartans' defense limited the Bulldogs to just seven shots compared to Case Western Reserve's 17.
Zoe Blanchard led the visitors with two shots, both on goal, while four other Bulldogs managed a shot each.
Taylor Fischer stopped three shots on six faced in net for Adrian (2-2).
"We were able to get some solid experience for some younger players," added Alamdari. "There were some positive moments that we will be able to build on in the matches come."
The next match on the docket for the black and gold is the 2021 home opener against Mount Union on September 11 at 1 p.m. at Docking Stadium.
