Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Joel Snyder

Bulldogs Snap Skid; Sweep Alma in Tennis

ADRIAN, Mich. - At the Craft Tennis Complex, the Bulldog men's and women's teams got back on the winning track on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Alma College with identical 6-3 scores.

It is the second conference-sweep of the season for Adrian, who previously took care of business against Albion College back in late-March. The result against the Scots also ends both team's three-match losing-streaks.

The action in doubles got the day started, as the home side picked up wins in three of the six bouts. Maddison Wagner and Liv Depies improved to 5-3 in the third doubles slot with an 8-5 victory, and Jules Johnson and Elizabeth Himebauch captured their conference win as a duo, 8-6.

On the men's side, Ryan Cuddy and Brandon Falk made quick work of their doubles' opposition with an 8-1 rout. The pair then carried that momentum into their respective singles matches, with both individuals taking straight-set wins.

Elsewhere in men's singles, Zachary Perry (5-9) extended his win-streak to two matches, improving to 3-0 at No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 sweep of Alma's Noah Festerling.

Sebastian Smith (5-4) and Sebastian Cowan (7-7) also nabbed points for the 'Dogs, with the latter of the two taking the win in three sets, and Smith turning in a nail-biting 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 victory.

In women's singles, Johnson (11-3) and Himebauch (6-5) transitioned their winning-ways from doubles into matching 6-2, 6-3 decisions. Then, Liv Depies (10-6) surpassed the 10-win threshold on the season, taking down the Scots' Emily McDonald 6-3, 6-1.

Regan Snyder secured the final point of the day at No. 6 singles, fending off Summer Stoldt in a tie-breaking third set to progress to 7-6 overall.

Next up for the black and gold is a make-up match for the women against Olivet on Thursday. Weather pending, the match is slated to begin at 3 p.m. at the Craft Tennis Complex, but could be relocated to inside the Merillat Fieldhouse.

As for the men, Aquinas College comes to town next Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. for a non-conference dual.
