ADRIAN, Mich. - This week, the Adrian women's lacrosse team will begin the second half of its conference schedule with the hopes of capturing its first win league-win of 2022, and snapping a five-game skid.
The Bulldogs (4-8, 0-3 MIAA) will get their week started at Docking Stadium against Trine University on Tuesday before traveling west to Indiana on Saturday to match-up with Saint Mary's College.
Since the beginning of April, the black and gold have fallen short in each of their three contests with conference opponents, including an overtime defeat at the hands of Kalamazoo, and most recently another loss on home turf to Albion.
Senior
Olive Stevens continues to be one of the 'Dogs primary scoring threats, and she actively ranks second in the MIAA with 17 goals in conference-play. On the season, she sits third in the league with 23 caused turnovers, and seventh in both draw controls (62) and total points (59).
Fellow senior
Carlee Casteel is up to 26 goals in 11 appearances on the year, and has scored two or more goals in each of Adrian's last four outings, while
Brooke Barabas broke a two-game scoreless-drought on Saturday with two goals against the Britons.
As a team, the locals pace the MIAA with 146 caused turnovers, and rank third in ground balls, having recovered 294.
That first number may come in handy against a Trine squad that has given-up a conference-low 157 turnovers.
The Thunder (7-3, 2-1 MIAA) have played in three high-scoring conference games so far this season, averaging 14.7 goals per game and allowing 12.5 goals per game.
Senior Liv Ghent leads Trine with 56 points on 46 goals and 10 assists, and is 15-for-19 on free position shots, making up nearly half of the team's total free position goals (33).
In goal, Jillian Rejczyk (7-2) boasts the MIAA's lowest goals-against average (9.22) and second-highest save percentage at 0.508.
As for Saint Mary's (6-4, 2-0 MIAA), the Belles sport a trio of productive offensive weapons, including Bridget Kane (45 points), Gabby Belsito (39) and Katie Haas (39). In addition to scoring, the latter of the three also leads the team with 51 ground balls, 53 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers.
Saturday's meeting with the Belles will be Adrian's eighth all-time with Saint Mary's leading the series 6-1, and all six wins coming consecutively.
Live stats and video will be available for both of this week's match-ups.
