ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's soccer team hosted Heidelberg University on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. After a scoreless first half, and seven minutes played in the second half, the teams were tasked with a long lightning delay before finally resuming later in the night. The Bulldogs and Student Princes finished the match with a 0-0 draw.
Adrian recorded three shots in the first half, but only landed one on goal. Heidelberg collected a couple of shots, but they went wide to make things easy for goaltender
Taylor Fischer. After the second half lightning delay, the Bulldogs came out energized and threw 12 shots on the board and landed six on goal. Unfortunately for Adrian, none found the back of net and kept the match tied at 0-0. The Bulldogs had opportunities on five corner kicks during the match and a couple of breakaway shots from
Annamarie Fosmoen.
Fosmoen finished the night with four shots with three on goal while
Sarah Hoensheid collected a pair of shots with both on goal. Mckenna Mahoney finished the night with five shots with one on goal.
Fischer had a low-key night in goal for Adrian facing one shot which resulted in a save.
"Our possession and pressure continues to be strong," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "This is a team that's digging in and finding more solutions each day. We installed a couple new concepts into the attack this week and both generated a handful of dangerous chances. We made Heidelberg work extremely hard for the draw, and we're looking forward to pushing for a result against Wooster tomorrow."
The Bulldogs will turn things around quickly with a 3:00 PM match on Sunday, September 11 as they host Wooster at Docking Stadium.
