ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's soccer team defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday night at Docking Stadium. The Bulldogs and Dearborn were scoreless at halftime, but a pair of second half goals from Adrian locked up the 2-0 victory.
Adrian collected six first half shots with three on goal while Dearborn finished with four shots with all of them on goal.Â
After going scoreless in the first half, Mckenna Mahoney put the Bulldogs on the board with a goal off a pass from
Annamarie Fosmoen to lead 1-0 in the 46th minute. The Bulldogs struck again in the 77th minute to lead 2-0.
Josie Huber took a 38-yard shot off a free kick which landed just out of the goalkeeper's reach to find the back of the net.
"Coach Easter is doing a great job at UMD," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "They're definitely a much deeper and more dangerous team than in the past. Along with that, we held a few starters out on a precautionary basis, so it made for a challenging game. We're happy to get the win, but we know that we have a really tough matchup against a motivated and battle-tested Otterbein team this Saturday."
Adrian finished the game with 18 shots and ten on goal.
Taylor Fischer made three saves in goal in 85 minutes of work. Freshman goalkeeper
Katelyn Stanton finished the game in goal for Adrian.
The Bulldogs head out on the road on Saturday, September 17 as they travel to Otterbein University for a 2:00 PM non-conference match.
