WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Adrian College women's soccer team traveled to Otterbein University on Saturday afternoon to continue its non-conference season. The Bulldogs were held scoreless in the match and fell 2-0 to the Cardinals.
Both teams went scoreless in the first half. Chances were limited for both teams with Adrian recording only one shot in the half while Otterbein finished the half with two.
The opportunities picked up in the second half with Adrian recording seven shots with only one on goal. Otterbein recorded three shots in the second half and connected on two of them. In the 59
th minute, the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead. Otterbein added to its lead in the 88
th minute to go up 2-0.
Mackenna Mahoney recorded the only shot on goal for the Bulldogs during the contest.
Taylor Fischer played all 90 minutes in goals and finished the day with two saves.
"This is another one of those championship-caliber non-conference rivalries that we've developed over the years, and it was yet another battle with Otterbein that could've gone either way," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "We had a couple of missteps in the second half and they capitalized, but our effort and intensity matched the occasion for the full 90. It's a game that will serve us very well down the stretch in the MIAA."
The Bulldogs return to action on the road on Wednesday as they travel to Baldwin Wallace University for a 7PM match.
