Women's Soccer Downs Regionally Ranked Baldwin Wallace on the Road

BEREA, Ohio -- The Adrian College women's soccer team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup. Baldwin Wallace entered the match ranked fourth in its region, but that didn't phase the Bulldogs as they won 2-1 on the road. Adrian moves to 4-2-2 on the season before entering conference play.

It was a defensive battle in the first half as both teams were held scoreless.

The Bulldogs broke the silence in the 65th minutes as Eve Davis netted the first goal of the game on an assist from Annamarie Fosmoen. Fosmoen found the back of the net in the 71st minute to lead 2-0 on an assist from Mckenna Mahoney. Baldwin Wallace made it a one goal game in the 80th minute, but Adrian's defense held on to win.

The Bulldogs finished with ten shots with five on goal with three corner kicks. Baldwin Wallace totaled 16 shots with two on goal with six corner kicks.

Freshman Katelyn Stanton got the start in goal on Wednesday night where she faced two shots and recorded one save.

"Huge win for us today," said head coach Ali Alamdari. "We've felt like some of our results this year haven't shown our growth, but this was a special day for this program. Baldwin Wallace is a ranked team with some extremely dangerous scoring threats, and they play a high intensity game from beginning to end. Ultimately, we finished our best chances and defended well all game. We're excited to see our alums this weekend as we prepare for MIAA play next week."

The Bulldogs host an alumni match this weekend at 11:00 AM on Saturday during Homecoming Weekend, but return to action on Wednesday, September 28 at 4:00 PM when they host Hope College to open conference play.
