SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Adrian College women's soccer team finished its trip to Tennessee on Sunday afternoon as they took on the host Sewanee. The Bulldogs went on to pick up its first win of the season with a 1-0 victory on a first half goal.
The first 20 minutes of the match went scoreless between the Bulldogs and Sewanee.
Leah Homan from Adrian broke the silence in the 22nd minute to give the Bulldogs their first goal of the season. Adrian totaled seven shots in the first half and landed five on net while Sewanee collected six first half shots with one on goal.
The second half went scoreless for both team allowing the Bulldogs to hold on a take the 1-0 victory. Each team had three opportunities to score on corner kicks during the match.
"This was a great bounce-back performance today against a top side in Sewanee," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "We felt out performance has been solid every game, but today we got that extra boost in the moments that mattered and got the result we deserved. Focus and intensity was right. We are looking forward to getting back to campus and using that same level as we prepare for next weekend."
MaKenna Mahoney finished the day with five shots with four on goal for Adrian.
Taylor Fischer had a relaxed day in goal only facing one shot which resulted in a save.
Adrian returns to action on Saturday, September 10 at home when they take on Heidelberg University at 5:00 PM.
