CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Adrian College men's wrestling team traveled to Case Western Reserve University on Saturday morning for a four-dual day at the Dr. Si Ostrach Duals. The Bulldogs took on St. John Fisher, Thiel, Waynesburg, and Penn College. Adrian went on and finished the day 2-2 after sending its second team to the event.
The Bulldogs started the day with St. John Fisher where they came away with a 21-15 win. The Bulldogs trailed 3-0 after the first bout before
Ashtyn Bennett won by decision at 133.
Sampson Ross went on to pick up a win at 141 to lead 6-3. St. John Fisher won the next two matches before
Trent Rector gave Adrian three points with a 5-0 win by decision at 165. St. John Fisher won at 174, but it was all Adrian the rest of the way.
Trevin Eggleston won by decision at 184 followed by a pin from
Jackson Beck-Calvert at 197 and a 7-0 win by decision from
Blake Daniels at 285.
The Bulldogs went on to struggle against Thiel College where they fell 31-10.
Mitchell Plucinski earned a major decision win at 157 followed by a 6-2 decision win from
Jacob Beeney at 165.
Brayden Randolph earned the final win for Adrian at 197 win an 8-6 win by decision.
The Bulldogs bounced back with a 45-12 victory of Waynesburg. Adrian led early after a forfeit at 125 which Waynesburg responded with a pin at 133.
Brody Chase won by fall at 141 to lead 12-6. Waynesburg tied the match against at 12-12 with a win by fall at 149, but Adrian took over from there. The team won the next three bouts by forfeit before
Kairos Norman won by fall at 184. Adrian won by forfeit at 197 and capped off the match with a win by decision from
Lukas Zywicki at 285.
Adrian struggled in their final match of the day with a 36-9 loss to Penn College. The Bulldogs lost the first seven bouts of the match before winning by forfeit at 184. Adrian lost a 197 before Daniels earned a 6-0 win by decision at 285.
The Bulldogs have a big MIAA dual with Olivet College on Tuesday, January 24 at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. Adrian will look to pack the house with a crowd as they are giving away t-shirts to the first 250 students that arrive with their student ID. Tuesday's dual is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM after the team's Senior Day ceremonies.
