ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's wrestling team began MIAA play on Tuesday evening as they hosted Albion College. The Bulldogs move to 1-0 in conference play after defeating the Britons 22-13 at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
Zachary Phifer began the night with a win by fall in 1:37 at 125 to take a 6-0 lead.
Tyler Davis followed it up with a major decision at 133 by a score of 15-4 while
Tanner Smith won by decision at 141.
Albion got on the board with a win by decision at 149 and a major decision win at 157 before the Bulldogs sparked another run.
Zach Altman won by decision at 165 to give Adrian a 16-7 lead.
Derick Duvall added three more points with an 11-6 decision win followed by a major decision from
Blake Williams at 184.
Albion won by decision at 197 and 285 to round out the match. Adrian was deducted a team point after the 197 bout bringing the final score to 22-13.
The Bulldogs will have a break before resuming MIAA action on the road as they travel to Alma College on January 12 for a 7:00 PM dual.
