OLIVET, Mich. – The Adrian College men's wrestling team competed at the Mid-States Invite on Saturday hosted by Olivet College. The Bulldogs finished fifth in the team scoring with 87.5 points and pull away one champion. Jackson Beck-Calvert won the 197 bracket for the Bulldogs.
 
To start the day, Josh Miller finished fifth in the 125 bracket. After losing his opening match by decision, he went on to win by fall in the consolation bracket. From there he lost by major decision to send him to the fifth-place match where he won in sudden victory. At 141, Sam Ross placed third for Adrian. Ross won his first bout of the day by fall before losing in the quarterfinal. After his loss, Ross won his final three bouts by major decision, decision, and fall to finish third.
 
At 184, Brayden Randolph finished third for Adrian. He totaled 16.5 points on the day with an opening win by fall followed by a sudden victory in the quarterfinal. He was sent to the consolation bracket after a loss in the semifinals, but bounced back with win by medical forfeit and by decision.
 
The Bulldogs were highlighted by Jackson Beck-Calvert at 197. Beck-Calvert totaled 26 team points with four straight victories. He opened the day with a win by tech fall at 18-2 followed by a 14 second pin in the quarterfinals. He went on to win by a 21-6 tech fall in the semifinal which he followed up with another pin in the championship.
 
Also placing for Adrian on the day with a Shan Swank (6^th) at 197, Junior Martin (8^th) at 165, Mackenze Baird (8^th) at 133, Ashtyn Bennett (7^th) at 133, and Donovan Kelly (8^th) at 125.
 
Saturday marked the final regular season contest for the men's wrestling team of 2023. From here, the Bulldogs will send ten guys to the NCAA DIII Central Regional at the end of February hosted by Case Western Reserve.
