OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC. – The Adrian College men's golf team opened the spring season at the Pfeiffer Invitational down in North Carolina. The Bulldogs participated in the two-day tournament consisting of 16 teams. Over the course of the two days, Adrian finished seventh with a final score of 645.
Ryan Van Eyk led the Bulldogs with a two-day total of 157. On day one, Van Eyk shot a 78 and followed it up with a 79 on day two.
Joe Kowatch shot a 163 with an 81 and an 82 while
Trevor Benoit,
Joe Renfer, and
Gabe Campbell at shot 166. Benoit shot an 89 on day one, but improved on day two shooting a 77. Renfer and Campbell finished with identical rounds of an 82 on Monday and an 84 on Tuesday.
Hendrik de Koning shot a 159 for the Adrian "B" team. He totaled an 82 on day one and a 77 on day two.
Vince Lafata shot a 206 with a 108 and a 98 over the course of two days.
Shane Heiser played in Monday's round where he shot a 97.
Adrian will have a couple of weeks off before heading to Williamsburg, Virginia to play in The Ruckus hosted by Premier College Tournament. The Ruckus is a two-day tournament scheduled to take place March 18-19 at Williamsburg National.
