ALBION, Mich. – The Adrian College men's wrestling team began MIAA conference play on Thursday evening at Albion College. The Bulldogs had their minds on track to repeat as MIAA Champions. Adrian came away with a 24-18 victory over the Britons with the help of a Tanner Smith reversal to spark the energy.
 
The Bulldogs took home a win by decision at 125 from Zachary Phifer before Tyler Davis won by a 15-1 major decision. Tanner Smith picked up a fall in 56 seconds to give Adrian a 13-0 lead. During Smith's bout, he was lifted to a position of defeat before regained control and forced a reversal to pin his opponent and pull away with six team points.
 
The Bulldogs picked up a win at 157 on an 8-7 decision by Zachary Platte before winning by a 16-6 major decision by Blake Williams at 174. Dylan Wellbaum won tech fall at 184 to give Adrian a 25-8 lead and ultimately win the match.
 
Adrian's next contest will be on Saturday, January 20 when they travel to the Alma Open starting at 9:00 AM.
