ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College WD2 team headed out to Bowling Green State University Saturday night forcing overtime, ending with a 1-1 draw, looking to pull away Sunday afternoon but ended up falling 4-1 at home.
Adrian battled to a hard-fought 1–1 overtime tie on Saturday afternoon at Bowling Green State University, but nobody could find the back of the net. After a scoreless first period, Bowling Green struck late in the second at 17:24 when they broke the deadlock and sent the Falcons into the intermission with a 1–0 lead. Aubrey Morrison converted on the power play to even the game at 1–1, with assists from junior
Mia Nadeau and sophomore Morgan Mckeraghan. Both teams traded chances throughout the remainder of regulation, with neither side able to break through despite a combined 84 shots on goal—42 each. Adrian closed out their weekend series on Sunday with a 4–1 loss to Bowling Green State University, as the Falcons capitalized on early momentum and strong special teams to take the series finale. Bowling Green struck twice in the opening period, beginning at 7:11 and just four minutes later, the Falcons extended the lead to 2–0, as BGSU controlled much of the early possession. The Bulldogs responded early in the second period. At 1:45, Mckeraghan buried her third of the season to cut the deficit to 2–1, set up by junior Ella Zebley. The Bulldogs generated energy off the goal, but the Falcons answered back at 7:41. Bowling Green tightened defensively in the third and sealed the win with an empty-netter at 18:56 to make it 4–1.
The Falcons outshot Adrian 43–38, as sophomore goaltender Chalee Ridenour turned away 39 of those shots.Â
