MARION, IND. - The Adrian College track and field team competed at the IWU Midwest Classic on Saturday afternoon.
On the men's side, junior Gavin Shelton delivered a solid performance in the 5,000m run, finishing 23rd with a time of 16:49.40. In the 400m dash, freshman Ian Chavis clocked a 55.05-second finish to secure 29th place. Senior Alec Grzegorek placed 13th in the 600m run, crossing the line in 1:26.46.
Senior Asher Cousino showcased his speed in the 60m hurdles, earning a strong fourth-place finish with a time of 8.68 seconds. Freshman Caleb Billings competed well in the 1,000m run, finishing 29th with a time of 2:49.42.
The women's 4,000m relay team earned a remarkable second-place finish, completing the race in 15:33.61. Senior Sydney Wilke placed 25th in the 5,000m run with a time of 21:01.50, while freshman Olivia Hyatt was close behind, finishing 29th at 21:33.92.
Freshman Alysia Townsend impressed in the 400m dash, finishing eighth with a time of 1:03.16. In the 600m run, sophomore Jilexi Valasquez secured 18th with a time of 1:56.77, while freshman Jacquelynn Napthen was just behind in 19th with a finish of 1:56.95.
The Bulldog track and field squad is back in action on Friday, February 7th where they will travel to the Mrs. G Invitational, hosted by Trine University. First event is set to begin at 3:00 PM.
