ANGOLA, Ind. - The Adrian College track and field team competed in the MIAA Indoor Championships this Saturday, where the Bulldogs men finished sixth with 40.5 team points and the women also finish sixth with 24 team points.
On the men's side, senior Asher Cousino had a standout performance, earning second place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.43 seconds. He also competed in the 200m dash, finishing tenth with a time of 23.08 seconds. Junior Will Houvener demonstrated his endurance in the 5,000m run, finishing 11th with a time of 15:31.31.
Freshman Ian Chavis made his mark in the long jump, taking 13th place with a leap of 5.94m (19-6.00). In the pole vault, Adrian saw two athletes climb onto the podium, with senior Cameron Overmyer finishing second with a vault of 4.46m (14-7.50) and freshman Ethan DeBerry taking third with a height of 4.36m (14-3.50). In the weight throw, junior Keith Scott placed seventh with a toss of 14.58m (47-10.00). The 4x400m relay squad finished in fourth place with a time of 3:31.17.
On the women's side, freshman Alysia Townsend made an immediate impact in her first MIAA Conference Championship meet. She earned two second-place finishes, one in the long jump with a leap of 5.33m (17-6.00) and another in the high jump with a height of 1.58m (5-2.25). Freshman Piper Pierce also competed in the long jump, finishing ninth with a mark of 4.96m (16-3.25).
Sophomore Amelia Smolinski delivered a strong performance in the weight throw, placing fifth with a toss of 13.23m (43-5.00). Junior Alayna Paeth wrapped up the women's efforts in the pole vault, finishing ninth with a mark of 2.61m (8-6.75).
Adrian is back on the track on Friday, March 7 where they will travel to Ohio Northern University for the Polar Bear Last Chance Qualifier. The meet is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
