ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team strung together a strong performance on Friday night at Docking Stadium, grabbing their second win in a row with an 18-10 triumph over the Otterbein Cardinals.
After the Cardinals got off to an early lead scoring first, the Bulldogs followed that up with an explosive start to the game, tallying eight goals in the first quarter to go up 8-2 after one.
Quarters two and three saw the Bulldogs and Cardinals tally three goals apiece in each frame, but the Bulldogs pulled away in the final period scoring four more goals to Otterbein's two to seal the home victory.
Leading for the Bulldogs on Friday was none other than
Michael Jonas, who tallied a whopping seven goals along with an assist in the game.
Austin Selvage and
Alec Winegar each scored hat-tricks to continue their hot starts to the year, and
Trace Tidswell,
Brandon Hoerauf,
Jake Coakley,
Jack Messel, and
Bowen Sparks each added single tallies to round out the scoring for Adrian.
Riley Edwards added a couple of assists, while
Derek Hassel provided three of his own.
Jonas led his team in the shot category with nine attempts on Friday. Meanwhile, face-off man
Sam Burke led on the ground with seven ground balls and eleven draw wins.
Cameron Reed continued his strong force of play on the backend, causing a team-lead four Otterbein turnovers.
Sam Spangler was stellar in goal for the Bulldogs, stopping twenty shots in his third win of the year.Â
Friday's Bulldog win also marks Head Coach
Brett Wetzel's 44th career win with the Bulldogs, passing former-coach
Don LaSala and making him the winningest head coach in Adrian College Men's Lacrosse program history.
The Adrian College men's lacrosse team will now look forward to their next contest, just over a week from now at home versus the University of Dubuque. The Bulldogs will host the Spartans at Docking Stadium on Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 PM.
