GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College Track and Field squad concluded the annual Knight Invite, hosted by Calvin University. Highlighted by victories on both the men and women's side.
On the men's side,
Jackson Hayward led the way with a first-place finish in the 200m dash, clocking in at an impressive 21.89 seconds. Hayward also added a fourth-place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.71) and a seventh-place finish in the 100m dash (11.26).
Will Houvener took control in the distance events, capturing first place in the 5000m run with a time of 15:32.13, while
Ryan Morris earned sixth in the 1500m with a time of 4:11.65.
In the field events,
KJ Scott had a solid showing, finishing fifth in the discus with a throw of 42.78m (140-04) and ninth in the hammer throw at 42.52m (139-06).
Tayshawn Crosby impressed in the high jump, taking third with a clearance of 1.96m (6-5.00), and
Matthew Cunningham matched that with a third-place finish in the javelin, tossing 49.70m (163-00).
The Bulldogs also dominated the pole vault, as
Cameron Overmyer soared to first place, clearing 4.60m (15-1.00).
On the women's side, the Bulldogs saw success in both track and field events.
Alysia Townsend claimed first place in the high jump with a mark of 1.59m (5-2.50) and also earned third in the long jump with a leap of 5.15m (16-10.75).
Bridget Waterstradt took third in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing in 12:11.88, while
Sydney Wilkie claimed fourth in the 5000m run with a time of 20:39.78.
In the field events, Ciara Heslat earned second in the javelin with a throw of 24.29m (79-08).
Alayna Paeth finished eighth in the pole vault (2.55m / 8-4.25), and
Amelia Smolinski wrapped things up with a ninth-place finish in the shot put (9.72m / 31-10.75).
Adrian is back on the track on Friday, April 18 where they will compete in the Otterbein Twilight, hosted by Otterbein College. The meet is set to start at 1:00 PM.
