ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCSA D1 team competed in a doubleheader on Wednesday against the Jets of Jackson College. The Bulldogs swept the doubleheader, winning game one 18-4 and game two 8-7.

Game 1

The Jets responded quickly in the next half inning with a home run to cut the Adrian lead in half. In the bottom of the second inning, Adrian plated three runs with two outs. Once again, Jackson answered with the long ball, this time a three-run blast that made it a 5-4 game. That score remained until the bottom of the fourth when Adrian's bats caught fire. The Bulldogs registered 17 at-bats in the inning, scoring 13 runs on nine hits, while being aided by five errors on the Jets' defense. Hayden Cutler was responsible for three runs in the inning via a two-run home run in her first plate appearance and an RBI groundout in her second at-bat of the inning. Haylie Lambes shut the door in the top of the fifth, securing the 18-4 victory. Nevaeh Edison went three for three in the game, crossing the plate three times, walking once, and driving in five runs.

Game 2

After a commanding victory, the Bulldogs had to battle in the second game of the doubleheader. The first three innings consisted of Jackson jumping out to an early lead. The long ball was the story of the Jets offense all day, and a two-run shot in the second inning made it 3-0. A double in the third inning plated another run, giving Jackson a 4-0 lead. After driving in five runs in game one, Nevaeh Edison brought the Bulldogs within one on a three-run inside-the-park home run. Fry's RBI single brought Edison in to score, tying the game at four. Once again, the Jets drove the ball over the fence to take back the lead, 5-4. Running out of time in the seventh inning, a sac fly by Raven Aldridge forced extra innings. In the top of the eighth, the Jets did it again, knocking a two-run home run to take a 7-5 lead. Adrian's offense didn't back down, getting three base hits to start the bottom of the eighth, tying the game at seven all. Three batters later, Anica Allstead finished the sweep with a walk-off RBI single. Adrian won game two 8-7 in eight innings.
