FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced its All-MIAA team for men's wrestling on Tuesday afternoon. Aiden Smith of the Adrian College NCAA men's wrestling team earned All-MIAA honors at 174 pounds while also being named the MIAA Most Valuable Wrestler.
The honor marks the second consecutive season that Smith has earned both All-MIAA recognition and the MIAA Most Valuable Wrestler Award. He becomes just the fifth wrestler in MIAA history to claim back-to-back MVP honors and the first in Adrian College program history to accomplish the feat.
Smith posted a perfect 3-0 record in MIAA duals, recording falls against opponents from Alma College and Trine University. His third conference victory came via a 21-4 technical fall over an opponent from Albion College.
Overall, Smith owns a 20-1 record this season. He captured titles at the Messiah Petrofes Tournament and the Adrian Invite, while finishing as runner-up at the Concordia Wisconsin Invite. At the time of the All-MIAA release, Smith was ranked No. 2 nationally at 157 pounds and No. 1 in the region.
Smith will return to the mat for the Bulldogs at the NCAA Division III Central Regional, scheduled for February 27-28 at John Carroll University. He will look to secure his second Division III Regional Championship and make another run at the NCAA Division III National Championship in Iowa.
