MD1 Hockey Earns Seven All-Conference Awards for the GL6

ADRIAN, Mich. – The GL6 announced its All-League awards on Saturday afternoon prior to the GL6 Tournament Championship game, and the Adrian College ACHA Men's Division I hockey team was well represented. The Bulldogs earned seven All-League honors, highlighted by Coach of the Year, two First Team selections, two Second Team picks, an All-Rookie Team nod, and an All-Defensive Team selection.

Head coach Gary Astalos was named GL6 Coach of the Year, marking the seventh conference Coach of the Year honor of his career. Astalos guided the Bulldogs to a 26-6-2 overall record and a 10-2 mark in conference play entering the GL6 Championship game. Adrian claimed the GL6 regular-season title and secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. During the season, Astalos also reached a milestone, earning his 300th career victory as head coach of the Bulldogs.

Peyton Trzaska received First Team All-Conference honors as a goaltender. Trzaska holds a 17-3-1 record with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. He has made 535 saves on the season and recorded five shutouts.

Team captain Sebastian Smith also earned First Team All-Conference recognition after leading the Bulldogs with 19 goals. He added 19 assists for a total of 38 points. Four of his goals came on the power play, two were shorthanded, and four were credited as game-winning goals.

Cale Strasky was named to the Second Team All-Conference. In 33 games this season, Strasky scored two goals and added 18 assists for 20 points.

Joining him on the Second Team was defenseman Nathaniel Mott. Mott totaled six goals and nine assists for 15 points, with two of his goals standing as game winners.

Keegan DeCaluwe earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team as a forward. With DeCaluwe on the ice, the Bulldogs allowed just 1.90 goals per game and posted an 84.62% penalty kill percentage. Offensively, he contributed 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 total points.

Dylan Eliason rounded out the honors by being named to the All-Rookie Team as a goaltender. In 12 appearances, Eliason compiled an 8-3-1 record with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage. He made 278 saves and recorded three shutouts.

The Bulldogs will look to capture their second GL6 Tournament title tonight at 8:30 p.m. when they face Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
