ADRIAN, Mich. – D3baseball.com released its Week 1 National Poll on Tuesday morning, and the Adrian College baseball team climbed six spots to No. 14 after opening the season 2-0. The Bulldogs began the year ranked No. 20 in the D3baseball.com Preseason Poll.
Adrian is coming off victories over No. 23 SUNY Brockport and RV University of Mount Union. The Bulldogs defeated Brockport 15-9 before earning a 10-2 win over Mount Union. Adrian's offense erupted for seven home runs across the two contests, including two from Jake Burns and two from Aiden Melvin. On the mound, Eddie Bieniasz was dominant against Mount Union, tossing seven strong innings. Burns and Bieniasz were both named MIAA Athletes of the Week for their performances.
The Bulldogs' schedule remains challenging, with six upcoming opponents currently receiving votes in the top-25 poll. Adrian is set to face East Texas Baptist University, Huntingdon College, and Montclair State University over the next two weeks. Later in non-conference play, the Bulldogs will take on RV North Central College, RV Baldwin Wallace University, and No. 5 Denison University. MIAA foe Kalamazoo College has also begun receiving votes, and Adrian is scheduled for a three-game series against the Hornets in April.
The Bulldogs will begin their spring break trip to Alabama this weekend, opening play on Saturday, February 28, against RV East Texas Baptist at 1:00 p.m. ET.
