ADRIAN, Mich. – The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) announced its Three Stars of the Week for NCAA men's and women's hockey, with Adrian College earning three total selections. The Bulldog men's team claimed two honors as Ryan Piros and Bradley Somers were recognized, while Kiera Stack represented the women's program.
Stack earned the honor after picking up a pair of key wins at home against St. Norbert College, helping Adrian maintain its perfect NCHA conference record. Across two games, Stack allowed just two goals while making 56 total saves, posting a .964 save percentage. She currently ranks third nationally in save percentage, fifth in goals-against average, and first in shutouts.
Piros backstopped the Bulldogs as they secured five of a possible six points in the NCHA standings against St. Norbert. He recorded 68 saves over the two-game weekend, leading Adrian to a 4-1 victory on Friday night before a 2-2 tie on Saturday. The Bulldogs went on to win the shootout, with Piros shutting out the Green Knights.
Somers finished the weekend with two goals, including the game-winner in Friday night's win. He also scored a power-play goal on Saturday to spark Adrian's comeback and force overtime and a shootout. Somers then netted the lone goal in the shootout to seal the victory for the Bulldogs.
Both Adrian College NCAA hockey programs return to action on Feb. 6–7 against Concordia Wisconsin. The men's team will host the Falcons beginning Friday at 7 p.m., while the women's team will travel to Concordia Wisconsin with puck drop set for Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
