FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) released its first preseason poll for women's tennis, with the Adrian College women's tennis team projected to finish fifth in the upcoming season. The Bulldogs received 31 voting points in the poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Adrian holds a 4-2 record following its non-conference fall season, picking up wins over Manchester, Anderson, Webster, and Franklin. The Bulldogs are led by Claire Earley, who posted a 5-1 record during the fall, while Hye Jin Elliott finished 4-1. The duo of Earley and Elliott also led the team in doubles, compiling a perfect 6-0 record.
Last season, Adrian earned the No. 5 seed in the MIAA Tournament but fell in the opening round on the road at Calvin University.
Hope College is projected to win the MIAA with eight first-place votes, followed by Kalamazoo College with one first-place vote. Calvin College is ranked third, with Saint Mary's College fourth. Rounding out the poll behind Adrian are Trine, Alma, Albion, and Olivet.
The Bulldogs will open their spring season in Florida on Monday, March 2, with a doubleheader against Wartburg College and John Carroll University. Adrian's MIAA conference schedule begins on Saturday, March 28, with a 1 p.m. match at Trine.
