ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's volleyball team has announced the hiring of Sidney Apodaca as an assistant coach.
 
Apodaca played Division I volleyball at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. She made an immediate impact on the Brooklyn Terriers during her freshman year, earning the first Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year Award in program history. Over the course of her four years at St. Francis, Apodaca racked up 313 kills and 53 digs in 86 career matches. Upon graduating in 2020, Apodaca went overseas and played professionally in Slovenia.
 
She considers herself a "student of life". While at St. Francis College, Apodaca earned bachelor's degrees in political science and criminal justice. She is also a certified vet technician in the veterinary surgical medical field and attended culinary school.
 
Apodaca has been coaching for five years throughout Colorado. She got her first coaching experience as the head JV coach of her alma mater, Eagle Ridge Academy. Since 2024, Apodaca has found great success at Stargate School in Thornton, Colorado. Here she has managed to rebuild the entire volleyball program, leading the Eagles to a state championship appearance in just her second year. She also coaches club volleyball for FCA One VBC (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
 
Apodaca will begin her duties with the Adrian College NCAA women's volleyball team immediately as the team looks to begin its 2026 campaign.
