Four players were in double figures in scoring for Adrian College on Saturday afternoon in a 76-70 overtime triumph over Alma College. Kim Olech continued her hot streak with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She also produced a great all-around game with nine rebounds, four assists and four blocks in 36 minutes before fouling out with 35 seconds left in the extra session.
The Bulldogs scored well above their season average despite shooting just 33.8 percent. They made their living at the free throw line going 19-of-28 (.679) including 4-of-4 in overtime. The Bulldogs got improved play out of their guards in this one. Jennifer Perrin responded to some sub-par games by scoring 17 points including 7-of-7 at the foul line. Perrin did not hit from outside but did grab a season-high nine rebounds. Anita Stamps and Liz Hafeli scored 13 and 12 points respectively off the bench for Adrian. Stamps was 5-of-15 shooting and was 3-of-4 from the arc with eight boards. Hafeli was 4-of-5 shooting including 2-of-2 from the arc and 2-of-2 at the line in 27 minutes.
Nichole Roose grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds and added six points in 33 minutes. Adrian trailed 37-27 at halftime as the Scots shot 44.4 percent from the field. Alma kept their lead until 4:16 left in regulation as Roose hit a jumper to give the Bulldogs a 58-57 lead. After a Stephanie Bradshaw triple, Olech made a layup to tie the game at 60-60 with 1:40 to go. Heather Keenan made a pair of free throws at 1:16 to give Alma a 62-60 lead. Olech made twice at the stripe with 54 seconds left and then blocked a Danielle Large shot as time expired to send things into overtime.
Both teams held even at 66-66 with 2:55 left and then Stamps made a layup at the 2:32 mark to give Adrian the lead for good. Perrin's layup with 1:38 to play gave Adrian a four-point cushion. Perrin and Roose connected on four straight free throws in the final 21 seconds.
