Adrian Drops Final Spring Trip Game, 7-2, versus Mount St. Joseph

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Bulldog baseball team concluded their spring trip in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 loss to Mount St. Joseph finishing the trip with a 5-1 record. Adrian faced a tough duo on the mound for the Lions who limited them to just six hits, the lowest output of the season thus far.

Chad Meyer went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the ninth spot of the lineup. Bobby Rickstad went 1-for-4 at the plate but struggled on the mound earning the start and going two innings before leaving the game. Rickstad (0-1) allowed six runs, four earned, and struck out one. Tim Parent threw four innings and allowed no hits while striking out one. Nick Vandike hurled the final two innings and allowed two hits and one unearned run with two strikeouts.

MSJ scored twice in the bottom of the first on a two-out RBI double followed by a single up the middle. Both runs were unearned in the frame. Adrian cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the top of the second. Jake Cappelletty led off with a double to right center and later scored on an RBI double to center field by Alexander Younce.

The big inning came in the bottom of the third as the Lions scored four times to take a 6-1 lead. The first five batters of the inning reached base before Rickstad was pulled in favor of Parent. Adrian added their second run in the bottom of the fourth as Cappelletty once again led off the inning by reaching base due to a walk. Alex Cowart was hit by a pitch putting two on with no outs. Jaymz Zokoe drew a two-out walk to load the bases and Meyer singled home Cappelletty.

Notes: Meyer batted 3-for-3 on the spring trip and reached base all five plate appearances...Brett Miskokomon batted .429 (3-for-7) with three RBI...Jake Cappelletty hit .412 (7-for-17) with five runs scored, four doubles and a team-best seven RBI...The Bulldogs hit .294 as a team with a staff ERA of 4.76.
