The Adrian College women's basketball team held off Anderson University to earn a 64-63 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Merillat Center. The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 9-2.
Adrian held a 37-32 advantage at halftime. Anita Stamps was 3-for-3 from three point range, and led all scores through the first half with 15. Jennifer Perrin added nine points for the Bulldogs.
Anderson shot 51 percent from the floor in the first half, but the Bulldogs made some adjustments to hold the Ravens to just 40 percent in the second half. The score remained close throughout the second half.
Tiffany Bowsher kept the Ravens in the game by scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for Anderson. Mel Hawthorne contributed with 11 points and Kayla Martin added 10.
Stamps finished with a game-high 24 points for Adrian. She shot 10-for-13 from the floor and was a perfect 4-for-4 from three point range. Megan Bouwens scored eight points, grabbed 12 rebounds and came up with a huge block in the final minute of the game to help the Bulldogs win.
The team will return to action on Jan. 7 to face Saint Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
